Teacher Tools

Classkick

This an amazing free tool that is a blank slate to make it what you will.  It is an interactive whiteboard to create lessons in iOS or online.  I liken it to another of my favorites Explain Everything (see below); However, what makes this tool even more amazing for teachers is once you create activities, it is easy to share with users via a code, and teachers can see live what students are doing.  Additionally, students can “raise their hand” in the app to ask for help or “ask” for work to be checked.  Teachers can access students’ slides from their own devices to provide support and feedback.  I have used it for syllable activities, spelling dictation, and math problem solving.  With it being a blank slate, it is a cross curricular wonder with on screen student data that is saved for future reference!

Explain Everything

This wondrous interactive whiteboard tool is a blank slate with many tools to create amazing instructional slides and activities. The developers continue to grow this app beyond your imagination.    Using text, visuals, voice, and other multi-modal tools, teachers and users can be amazed and engaged in dynamic ways.  From their site:

“Explain Everything is an easy-to-use design, screencasting, and interactive whiteboard tool with real-time collaboration that lets you animate, record, annotate, collaborate, and explore ideas, knowledge and understanding.”

Their classic version is in iOS app and is awesome.  Now they have their cross platform updated version that is available for iPad, Android, Chromebook and Windows (some platforms do not yet support all the features).  The new version also incorporates the collaboration features. Whether the classic or updated tool, Explain Everything goes takes creating beyond what you can imagine. I encourage you to see their gallery of examples.
